The air bag Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may malfunction, possibly causing the non-deployment or improper deployment of the air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners.
Remedy
Ferrari
will notify owners, and dealers will replace the air bag ECU, free of charge. The recall began August 2, 2019. Owners may contact Ferrari

488 GTB, 488 spider, 488 Pista, 458 Speciale A, California T, Fl 2, and Fl 2 TDFvehicles from VIN No. 21 1 776 to 237561 .
The vehicles involved are equipped with an air bag Electronic Control Unit (ECU) which may malfunction, possibly causing the non-deployment or improper deployment of the air bags and/or seat belt pre-tensioners. In the event of a crash, airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners that do not deploy as intended can increase the risk of injury. We want to assure you that our clients’ safety is our priority, and we are committed to correcting this condition in their vehicles.
IMPORTANT
Ferrari
will be notifying ALL affected MY 201 5, 2016, 201 7 and 2018 vehicle owners nationwide with a letter indicating that the parts are expected to be available by mid-August, and that the air bag Electronic Control Unit will be replaced free of charge.

TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS
Please read all instructions before performing this campaign.
The procedure required for this RECALL CAMPAIGN consists of replacing the Air Bag electronic control unit (ECU)
A possible non-conformity of this component could lead, due to potential power supply failure, to the following events:
- The Air Bags and/or the seat belt pre-tensioners could be deactivated; the Air Bag warning light on the instrument panel will activate.
- The Air Bags and/or the seat belt pre-tensioners may inadvertently activate.
This potential non-conformity of the Air Bag ECU may increase the risk of injury and/or possibility of an accident.
The RECALL CAMPAIGN procedure described as follows must be performed precisely as indicated in the following instructions:
1 . Procedure
The procedures for the various models are described below.
The serial number of the new Air Bag ECU, shown in Fig. 1, must be entered in the New Modis Traceability session. Detailed instructions on the use of this session are available on New Modis, section “Documents — After Sales / Documents Aftersales Manuals LN 10.4”.

Perform the replacement of the Air Bag ECU (as described in paragraph F2.1 1 ECUs” step “Replacing the Air Bag ECU” in the Workshop Manual).
488 GTB / 488 spider / California T
Remove the Air Bag ECU (as described in paragraph F2.09 “ECUs”, step “Removing the Air Bag ECU” in the Workshop Manual).
Take the new Air Bag ECU and install it on the vehicle (as described in paragraph F2.09 ECUs”, step “Refitting of the Air Bag ECU” in the Workshop Manual).
488 Pista
Remove the Air Bag ECU (as described in paragraph F8.02 “Air Bag system ECU (NAB)” , chapter “Removing the Air Bag system ECU (NAB)” of the Workshop Manual).
Take the new Air Bag ECU, and install it on the vehicle (as described in paragraph F8.02 “Air Bag system ECU (NAB) chapter “Refitting the Air Bag system ECU (NAB)” of the Workshop Manual).

The parts required to carry out the update must be ordered directly from FNA Spare Parts Department in the quantities needed.

was advised by the supplier about the possibility of a potentially defective airbag ECU on May 14, 2019.
Ferrari
requested additional information during a conference call on May 20, 2019. Some of the additional information was provided in another conference call on May 22, 2019 and then more information was provided in a follow-up conference call on May 28, 2019.
Having collected all relevant information, a meeting was held on May 31, 2019 to discuss the issue. Ferrari
reached the determination that a safety related problem exists and, accordingly, took the decision to launch a recall campaign worldwide.

DEIS diagnostic tool. This diagnostic tool requires active professional level subscription. The tool comes complete with software when purchased. Please submit any requests for further information through the Help section after the registration.
Alternatively, the Ferrari
DEIS-Light diagnostic software may be purchased alone. DEIS-Light allows you to use your own PC. This software may be also used to reprogramming ECUs compliant with ISO 22900 (EU) and SAE J2534 (USA) standards in addition to performing level one diagnosis on Ferrari
models from the 599 GTB FIORANO onwards. You must be in possession of a valid annual subscription in order to request the DEIS-Light diagnostic software. To request the software, compile the specific form in full and send to the indicated email address.
