) is recalling certain 2016 488 GTB and 488 Spider vehicles. Due to a software error, the driver may not be warned that the brake discs are critically worn.
Remedy
Ferrari
will notify owners, and dealers will update the instrument panel node software, free of charge. Owners may contact Ferrari
customer service at 1-201-816-2668. Ferrari

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Ferrari
has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Model Year 2016 488 GTB and 488 Spider vehicles. The vehicles involved are equipped with a software algorithm which calculates the estimated percentage of wear of the carbon-ceramic brake discs, which may not work properly due to a software error. This may cause a reset of the wear value estimated by the software.
The critical wear threshold of your brake discs may be reached without the corresponding warning light & message on the instrument panel of the vehicle, with consequent possible damage to the discs themselves. This can increase the risk of a crash. We want to assure you that your safety is our priority, and we are committed to correcting this condition in your vehicle.

DEIS diagnostic tool. This diagnostic tool requires active professional level subscription. The tool comes complete with software when purchased. Please submit any requests for further information through the Help section after the registration.
Alternatively, the Ferrari
DEIS-Light diagnostic software may be purchased alone. DEIS-Light allows you to use your own PC. This software may be also used to reprogramming ECUs compliant with ISO 22900 (EU) and SAE J2534 (USA) standards in addition to performing level one diagnosis on Ferrari
models from the 599 GTB FIORANO onwards. You must be in possession of a valid annual subscription in order to request the DEIS-Light diagnostic software. To request the software, compile the specific form in full and send to the indicated email address. Once you receive approval for the request and the necessary payment has been made, your Hardware Key will be shipped to you, and you will be able to download the software from the internet.
