MANDATORY STOP-SALE NOTICE To: Dealer Principal; General Manager; Sales Manager; and Service Manager Re: ALL MY 2022 – 2023 Ferrari 296 GTB and MY 2023 Ferrari 296 GTS vehicles Issue: Ferrari has determined that a defect related to motor vehicle safety may arise in some MY 2022 – 2023 Ferrari 296 GTB and MY 2023 Ferrari 296 GTS vehicles. The issue relates to some corrosion detected on the fuel tank connecting pipe due to the unintended contact between the fuel tank connecting pipe (made of aluminum) and the high-voltage battery protection cover (made of glass fibers and inox steel). Ferrari decided to launch a recall campaign to remedy this potential issue and has notified NHTSA. Ferrari is working on a repair to address this issue; at this time a repair is not available. Further information regarding the recall and availability of the spare parts necessary to perform the repair will be provided in the coming days. Required Dealer Action: • Effective immediately and until further notice, ALL MY 2022 – 2023 Ferrari 296 GTB and MY 2023 Ferrari 296 GTS are on mandatory stop-sale hold. • DO NOT sell, offer for sale or lease, or allow demo/test drives of any of the subject MY 2022 – 2023 Ferrari 296 GTB and MY 2023 Ferrari 296 GTS vehicles. • In the interest of customer safety and satisfaction, place all MY 2022 – 2023 Ferrari 296 GTB and MY 2023 Ferrari 296 GTS vehicles at your dealership in a secure area where they cannot be made available for sale, lease, trade or demonstrator use until a repair to address this issue is made available and has been performed. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : The defect may cause potential fuel leakage. Fuel leakage in the presence of an external ignition source may increase the risk of fire. Description of the Cause : Unintended contact between the fuel tank connecting pipe and the high-voltage battery protection cover allowed the formation of corrosion on the pipe due to a chemical reaction between aluminum and inox steel, which in turn allowed the formation of a hole in the pipe that permitted fuel leakage. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : The repair consists of replacing the current fuel tank connecting pipe installed on 296 model with a new connecting pipe reinforced with an anti-corrosive protective sleeve made of rubber. Ferrari will send a notice letter to all affected vehicle owners to warn them of this issue, and instruct them 1) to contact an authorized Ferrari dealer to schedule the free recall repair, and 2) in the meantime, request them not to use the vehicles. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The new fuel tank connecting pipe will be reinforced with an anticorrosive protective sleeve made of rubber. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : All 296 vehicles currently in production have been fitted with insulation to prevent corrosion starting from April 20, 2023.
